Other Sources of Help
Out of our hours, do you really need to be seen? Ask yourself whether it can wait until the surgery is open.
As its name suggests, A&E is only for serious accidents or medical emergencies. Patients turning up at Casualty with minor injuries and ailments clogs up this important service – delaying treatment for patients with more serious problems.
If you do need advice out of the surgery hours, choose well:
Pharmacist:
Your pharmacist can advise you regarding your medication and can offer self help advice for minor ailments such as coughs and colds, allergies, tummy troubles, women’s health problems and rashes.
The Think Pharmacy First is a national initiative to increase patient choice and give patients the opportunity for quick free advice on minor ailments. Patients who are entitled to free prescriptions can still have free prescriptions
For more information about what your pharmacist can advise you on, please see the Think Pharmacy First Page
